Went to visit family in Oregon. On Saturday we went to Portland and ate at Fuddruckers. It was decadent! Mmmmm! Burgers! http://www.fuddruckers.com/
On Sunday we drove down the coast starting at Nye Beach, Newport, Oregon. It was windy and chilly but so beautiful. And the smell of the sea took everything else away. We had lunch at the Chowder Bowl http://www.nyebeach.org/home.cfm?dir_cat=39085
The Fish and Chips plate was the best I think I have ever had! The cod was so tender you could cut it with a fork; the breading was paper-thin; no grease on the fish or the coin-chips; thick slice of garlic toast melted in my mouth.
After lunch we drove as far south as Yachats, OR stopping at places along the way to take pix.
The wild surf, tiny people and a gull playing on the wind currents.
A cute little used book store with chalk depiction of books on a bookshelf on the retaining wall outside.
Benches on the corners have decorations of sea creatures.
A pretty mosaic bench in one of the overlooks.
All of the chimneys have these funny covers that spin in the wind. Supposed to keep the pelicans from making nests over the tops, I believe.
The gulls seem to totally ignore the people walking past them but I wouldn't want to tangle with those hooked beaks.
Driftwood Beach. No really, that's its name.
These formations are called Seal Rock - suppose if I had been closer we could see the seals on the rocks?
This one is called Devil's Churn.
Lighthouse further down the coast near Yachats.
Last of all: giant tree at a rest stop on the road north.
